As if we needed any more excuses to sleep, a UK-based gym has given us another.
This weekend, members of the Sidcup, UK, outpost of David Lloyd fitness clubs will be swapping their barbells for an eye mask and yoga mats for doonas at the chainâ€™s first “napercise” class.
Trialling first in Kent with hopes of rolling out in other places around the UK, the introduction of the 45-minute class is a response to club execs discovering that 86 per cent of parents are sleep-deprived.
â€œUpon arrival in the studio, guests will find the spin-bikes swapped for single beds, and upbeat workout tunes ditched in favour of atmospheric sounds, to create the perfect environment for the soporific sessions to take place,â€ a club statement reads.
â€œThe studio temperature will also be dropped to a level that promotes calorie burning during sleep. Napercisers will be invited to curl up in one of the beds and indulge in some restorative mid-afternoon shut-eye, before continuing on with their day.â€
This is one class weâ€™d consider getting up early for.
