A Day in the Life of Collective Hub’s Art Director

A look at print deadline week at Collective HQ.

9am First up on Monday is our regular team meeting (coffee required, it’s the start of the week, after all). This is where our whole team puts our heads together to suggest new content ideas that we think will really resonate with our community. Some of the top ones this week are Modern Culture Has A Fear of Sadness and The Perks of Being An Insta-Husband.

10am Check inbox, answer inbox, get all that boring-yet-essential stuff out of the way. Check where everything is at with our creative team. Benny, the resident office dog, decides he also wants to help.

11am Colour proofs of Issue 44 arrive. The design team look over these to check everything is top notch and ready for your reading pleasure.

12pm Start making design replacements for any little things that may have gone unnoticed.

1pm Lunch break. Escape the office for a little while to clear the mind and stretch the body. I have taken up to Barre Body – there are so many muscles you realise you hardly use when you first start these classes. Barre is a mix between pilates, yoga and ballet. Heat up leftover pasta for lunch and devour at my desk (I know this is a bad thing, but time is precious).

2pm Get replacement files ready to upload for Tuesday.

3pm Start working on Issue 45!

4pm Quick catch up with our Editor, Lisa Messenger, in the meeting room.

5pm Start wrapping up for the day by responding to any pending emails.

We’d like to give a shout-out to Olympus for the use of the Olympus PEN E-PL8 camera. Our Art Director, Edith, also took it for a spin over the weekend, and here’s what she snapped:

We would love to hear your thoughts
